Firefox Add-on: Update Scanner

Posted in Firefox, Firefox Add-ons, Reviews, Softwares, Tech, Update Scanner at 11:01 pm by anonymous

Surfing the net as i come across this useful extension add-on for Mozilla Firefox browser. It’s called the Update Scanner, it monitors web pages for updates. Useful for websites that don’t provide Atom or RSS feeds especially forums, personal pages.

Update Scanner

  • Once it scanned and found changes to that specific URL that you’ve set, it will notify you like a balloon tool tip
  • The button on the status bar will be filled when some websites you specified have updated new contents
  • Page will be generated in local drive and highlighted in yellow of the contents that are new
  • You can set it to scan every 15 mins, 30 mins, hourly, every 6 hours, daily intervals or manual scan

Update Scanner

You can also set the amount of changes in the scanned sites, before it sets off to notify you. This can be useful if the scanned sites contains ads, you don’t want it to notify you of some ads changes right?

Interface: RatingsRatingsRatingsRatingsRatings
Usefulness: RatingsRatingsRatingsRatingsRatings
Ease of use: RatingsRatingsRatingsRatingsRatings
Value: RatingsRatingsRatingsRatingsRatings

Personally, i use it for news, and the Codec Guide Website. It will notify me when there is changes on the website, maybe new K-lite Codec Packs version released! It will be better if a few more buttons can be added, for etg buttons like “Mark all as visited” and “Mark this page as visited”, and added urls can be arranged by user. The performance is the downside, whenever you press on “Show Changes” or “Show Changes in a New Tab” on the context menu, it will lag until the page is loaded. Beware of adding too many urls to Update Scanner, the performance of the browser will be very poor when there are many urls to scan. It no longer lags that much when showing changes on the 2.0.12 version.

How do you make your blog (on Blogspot) for invited members only?…

I just went on Blogspot and made a blog, I want to make it for invited members only. I’ve seen blogs like that, but I don’t know how to do it myself. I already made it so that my blog isn’t visible from my profile, but I don’t know what to do next….
